2008 ACCOMPLISHMENTS & CELEBRATIONS Education n More youth are participating in Sunday School n 2 Adult Sunday School classes n Our October Intergenerational event was great n No one does VBS better! n VBS participants bought and sent 38 soccer balls to L.A.C.E.S. Youth n At their own initiative, they directed the Christmas pageant n The monthly collection of gifts for L.A.C.E.S. soccer ministry in Liberia n Visiting our Shut-ins and special friends n Providing a wonderful ministry with our nursery n They did a great job at our Work Day n Initiated, organized, and provided a Drive through Trick-or-Treat n The priceless leadership and time of Phil Ewoldsen with our youth Koinonia n Consistent ministry with Shut-ins through cards & visitation n Publicity and Web Site are a strong witness for us in the community n Fellowship events: Picnic, Jonah Fish Fry, Progressive Dinner n The consistent cheerful welcome given to Visitors Outreach n We sent 18 youth and adults to New Orleans to help with reconstruction efforts n Participation in the construction of a house for Habitat for Humanity n Supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through fundraising and participating in the Great Strides Walk n Participated in Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism n Monetary gifts to St. Ann’s Clinic n Collected baby items for Trinity Nursing Center for Infants and Child Health-Purdue University n Collection of non-perishable food items for Catholic Charities (spring) and 14th and Chestnut (fall) n Collected items for CODA n Collected mittens, gloves, and hats for Fuqua students n Tea for 2,000 n Provided and/or served meals at Lighthouse Mission n Provided meeting space for various community and support groups n Provided financial help to those in need for utilities, prescriptions, and rent through our Helping Hands Fund n Gathered and dedicated monetary gifts for seven (7) Christian Church special offereings n Ongoing support of Regional and Global ministries n Ongoing support of United Campus Ministries n A group of our members, under the leadership of Joseph Grieb, started P.A.T.H. - a ministry dedicated to AIDS/HIV education and prevention and STD testing Property n The leadership of Patty McClintock n All-ages church Work Day Stewardship and Finance n The leadership & creativity of Valarie Jones and David Rose n Many voices and perspectives throughout our annual campaign n More counters participating Worship n Hanging of the Greens n Dramatic Readings n Generous gifts of leadership that « help set the tone of praising God « being open to the Holy Spirit « and feeling joy at being together even when grieving n Betsy Hine, Phil Ewoldsen, Rajamah Drake , and the Choir Elders n Their study of Unbinding the Gospel n Their commitment to growing as Spiritual Leaders |
